Guest Artist: Ingrid Brink

June 16th through July 31st
Artist reception: Saturday June 18th from 4 – 6pm

Ingrid BrinkIngrid Brink earned a Bachelor Degree in Art from Humboldt State University and a California lifetime teaching credential. She has studied under such notable watercolorists as Dong Kingman, Katherine Chang Liu, and Edward Reep. Ingrid Brink’s paintings have been accepted in many National competitions and she began teaching watercolor classes at the college level.

In 1988, she was voted in as a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society (one of approximately 600 in the U.S.). The following year she was awarded a grant from the California Arts Council as an Artist in Residence to work in two elementary schools. Nine grants later and with unwavering support from parents, students and staff, her residency turned into a 23-year career. As a teacher and artist, she knew she was successful when she would hear: “You’ve changed the way I see.”

Her first trip to Hawaii in 1976 launched a lifelong yearning to return, which she did. In 2003, she and her husband bought a home in Waikoloa Village with a great view and, equally important, a huge lanai for painting. Ingrid and her husband Jan now live in the best of both worlds, Baywood Park on the central coast and part time on the Big Island of Hawaii. The interplay of land, sea and sky, and the colors and textures of Hawaii and the Central Coast, particularly the ” Back Bay” in Baywood continue to ‘change the way I see’ and inspire me to paint!”
